Rava Upma is a popular South Indian disk. It is very tasty and mostly eaten in the morning breakfast. People of all ages are like it. It is also a healthy food due to the very low use of oil or ghee in making it. It can be made from readily available material in less time. The material and recipe of making Rava Upma for four to five people are as follows –

Preparation
1. Chop the carrots into small fine pieces.
2. Chop onions and chilli into small fine pieces.
3. Fry semolina in 1/2 teaspoon of ghee or oil on medium flame heat till it becomes light brown and keeps it out on a plate.
4. Fry peanuts in 1/2 teaspoon of ghee or oil on a light flame for 1 to 2 minutes and keep it out on a plate.

4. Fry peanuts in 1/2 teaspoon of ghee or oil on a light flame for 1 to 2 minutes and keep it out on a plate.
Recipe
1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan on medium heat.
2. When oil or ghee is slightly hot, add rai seeds and fry it.
3. When the rai seeds start crackling, add finely chopped onion and chilli to it. Fry this mixture while going light brown.
4. Now add finely chopped pieces of carrot and peas in this mixture and fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
5. Add the pre-roasted semolina to the prepared mixture and mix well.
6. Add salt and three cups of warm water slowly to the mixture and mix well and keep stirring the mixture continuously.
7. After heating for some time, when the mixture starts to thicken and look like halva, then add pre-roasted peanuts in it and keep stirring the Rava Upma.
8. Cook the Rava Upma for 1 to 2 minutes. After this, to serve Rava Upma, take it out in a vessel and decorate it with green coriander leaves, chilli, etc. It makes Rava Upma good looking along with eating.
9. Serve Rava Upma with sambhar, papad, and salad, etc.

Suggestions
- You can use other vegetables like tomatoes, capsicum, potatoes, beans, etc in Rava Upma according to your taste.
- Cottage cheese can also be used to make Rava Upma tastier.
- Both coarse and fine grain semolina is available in the market. The use of coarse grain semolina makes Rava Upma more beautiful and granulated.
